Each Monday in SAFe® Connect, we shine a light on one of our incredible members. On Wednesdays, that same member shares their Tip of the Week—a practical piece of advice, a hard-won lesson, or a simple ritual that keeps them (and their teams) moving forward.
This week’s spotlight member, Josh Bedell , offers three insights worth carrying with you as you navigate SAFe in complex environments.
1. Start somewhere, not everywhere.
“In a complex system, almost everything looks daunting. Focus on something—a feature, an epic, a value stream, a team, or an ART. Pick one and start there. Momentum builds from focus, not from trying to do everything at once.”
2. Do what you enjoy—and let it fuel your focus.
“Find the part you enjoy most, whatever that may be, and launch from there as often as possible. When we’re doing something we truly enjoy, we tend to be more focused and effective. (And yes, I absolutely use AI as my copilot to help me stay sharp.)”
3. Stay authentic.
“The best advice I ever received? ‘Wouldn’t you rather they judge you for the leader you are than who you think they want you to be?’ It’s tempting to adapt yourself to fit expectations, but authenticity builds trust—and trust builds teams.”
