1. Align leadership before launching structures
âStart with leadership alignment before launching structures. In complex enterprises, the biggest risk is implementing the mechanics without shifting decision making behavior. Before launching an ART or running PI Planning, align leaders on value streams, priorities, and how decisions will be made. If leaders donât change how they think about funding, priorities, and dependencies, the system will resist the transformation. Structure follows mindset not the other way around.â
2. Use evidence based resources to guide decisions
âI frequently recommend Accelerate by Nicole Forsgren, Jez Humble, and Gene Kim. It connects Agile practices to measurable business outcomes through research backed metrics like lead time and deployment frequency. It helps move conversations from opinion to evidence. For transformation leaders, that bridge between technical practices and executive language is critical.â
3. Focus on system level productivity
âI run weekly system reflection sessions. Instead of only managing tasks, I review flow. What is stuck? Where are decisions delayed? What dependencies are repeating? This prevents local optimization and keeps focus on system health. Clarity over busyness.â
4. Expand learning beyond the framework
âI combine three streams. Practical experimentation inside live transformations. Ongoing dialogue with global practitioners. Exploring adjacent domains like AI native systems and intelligent automation. Agility evolves, so learning must extend beyond the framework into technology, leadership, and systems thinking.â
