This week’s Tip of the Week comes from Riaan Johannes Roos , who shares four simple practices that consistently improve the way he supports teams and navigates complexity in SAFe environments. 1. Secure real leadership involvement
My most important tactical tip is to make sure senior leadership is actively involved in the transformation. At least one senior leader must participate and understand SAFe and the desired outcomes. If they do not, I teach them. Involvement equals participation, and once leadership is aligned, resistance decreases and results improve.
2. Stick to the proven foundations
I always recommend the Agile Manifesto because it is still so important. I also rely on the SAFe Principles because they help reinforce ideas and support strong decision making. The closer we stay to what is proven, the greater the chance of success.
3. Use show and tell to uncover clarity
My go to productivity ritual is simple. Show and tell. A Gemba walk is powerful. After observing, I shift into the coaching stance. People may be self managed, but sometimes they still need guidance and a voice.
4. Keep learning, especially when it feels uncomfortable
To stay current, I attend online sessions whenever I can. I also spent the past few months learning AI basics. Once I started, I realized how far behind I was, which pushed me to keep going and stay curious.
